Professor Keith Rayner's work focuses on understanding the cognitive processes involved in reading, language processing, scene perception and visual search by studying eye movements and making inferences about how the movement of the eyes are related to the underlying processing involved. Professor Rayner's study of eye movements during reading is an important cornerstone of today's reading science. He has published more than 200 research articles in journals such as Science, Psychological Review, Psychological Bulletin, Cognitive Psychology, Psychological Science, Journal of Experimental Psychology: Human Perception and Performance, Journal of Experimental Psychology: Learning, Memory, and Cognition, etc. In addition, he is the former Editor of the Journal of Experimental Psychology: Learning, Memory, and Cognition (1990–1995) and current Editor of Psychological Review.
